The Corner of Orchard and Delancy Street, NYC 2009

This image is from my first month long stay in Venice, in the Winter of 1981. Cold, damp fog. Low frequency throbbing from the Vaporetti. Exploding frantic flapping from disturbed flocks of scrawny pigeons, waiting out a hungry season.

An opium dream.

A great print in of this image the Boston MFA’s collection is included in the exhibition Unmasking Venice: American Artists and the City of Water (May 28—September 5, 2022) at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown New York.
